Please let me pay for things.” That was their relationship. I'll put it on my bill.” Anna always said to her things like, “You work harder for your money than I ever have. I was like, okay, if I had spent a couple months with someone who I really enjoyed being with and being taken out to fancy restaurants, and if I was a photo editor's assistant, making very little money and probably being shit on in my day job every day, and then all of a sudden, you get to have this friend who's available when all of your other friends are in relationships and not available to go out to dinner every night…here's this girl who's like, “Come meet me at my hotel. It's your job as an actor to be able to put yourself in someone else's shoes. How did you relate to the character of Rachel? Garner as Anna Delvey and Lowes as Rachel NICOLE RIVELLI/NETFLIX You can see how if someone's credit card was being questioned day in and day out, I feel how Rachel would have felt afraid, and how she definitely thought her friend was going to pay her back out of $60,000-plus is what she was conned out of. Things are just a little bit on edge, but it's so gorgeous and incredible. And it's easy it's so wonderful being here because you can feel how secure the place is and how there are guards everywhere and how they look under your car for bombs when you pull in and things like that. I also think she's been very open in her interviews about how she made mistakes and learned a lot through this process. I feel like she's been pretty open in interviews about her side of things, about how it went down and how she feels like she was the victim of someone who's a total sociopath and conned by someone who she thought was her friend. Is there anything you wish you could ask her if you had the chance to sit down with her? So I feel pretty good about it, like I know enough what I need to know in order to tell the story. You can go on her Instagram, and go down an Instagram spiral very easily on a person. I mean, in this day and age, she's on a tour for her book and all this kind of stuff. There was no opportunity to meet her, but she's so readily available currently, because there's so much online. But I feel like we've been armed with a lot of research about these people in real life and about the story we're telling for sure. I haven't been able to get anyone wasted enough to give me any real detail. Well, you know, they're very classy and very tight-lipped about the whole thing, which is what a very fancy hotel I'm sure is told to do. So the first thing I did when I landed and got to La Mamounia was start asking, “Did you work here when Anna Delvey was here? Did you see the whole scandal? Blah blah blah.” There are tons of people that were here during that whole time. I didn't sleep at all on the flight to Morocco, and I'm here with my two-year-old and my husband and my mother-in-law. It almost feels like a movie just because it's a six-month situation, or however long we're shooting this. When I saw Shonda at the table read for the first, she was like, “Oh my gosh, this is so weird to fall in love with these characters and be in this world for a short amount of time.” Shonda is used to being in marriages with people for a pretty long and epic run. What the hell? This is so exciting and so different. Katie Lowes: We're in a close second. I mean, we're doing an interview in a riad at La Mamounia in Marrakech, Morocco.
